Golden Age Healings is located on the Northern Rivers of NSW, 10 minutes from ByronBay at OceanShores. This healing centre specialises in Spiritual Healing, Creativity Counselling/ Physcotheraphy, Rebirthing, Hatha Yoga – Yoga Therapy & Meditation instruction.

Sally talked to Dan Raccani  about the healing arts he practises at the centre.

Sally: How did you first discover spiritually?

Dan: I first discovered spirituality quite early on in life as I was born into a family of clairvoyants & healers, I also had certain gifts myself. As a child growing up with these gifts it proved to be more daunting then beneficial & the older I got the more I tried to hide and suppress this side of me (especially in my late teens and early 20’s, where I lived in my physical self & through my ego in a world of escapism).

I then had a near death experience in my late 20’s and that changed the direction in my life from one of fear and resistance to one of gratitude and acceptance. I feel quite blessed for that accident, as it put me back on my true path, my spiritual path, my souls purpose if you will.

Ha ha ha….. kind of funny how the universe works.

Sally: How do you encourage and inspire people to live a more fulfilled life?

Dan: I guess you can only really inspire people by living your own life in a certain way, you have to be an example of what they would like to inspire to. Gone are the days of getting on a soap box and preaching to people, it just increases resistance in them.

I try to encourage people not to take everything so seriously & laugh more in life, stay present & not to have anxiety about their past, not to worry about their future, help them understand that our minds create most of our pain & we only ever really suppress happiness. Once we all understand this, it opens us up to a more fulfilled existence.

Sally: Do you have any simple tips to help people live a more spiritually grounded life?

Dan: Yes, breathe & stay totally present in each moment of your life. You might say breathe, but we all breathe, but how many of us truly take deep slow breaths into our abdomens and slowly exhale whilst concentrating wholly on the task that we are doing at hand throughout the day, without our minds wandering off and thinking of several things that we must do.

This technique is call Karma Yoga or Meditation In Action and as the name suggests, it is exactly what it is “ Meditating in action”. It is the art of opening to each moment of your life with calm awareness.

The goal is to be totally present and mindful in all activities you do throughout the day.. that could be cooking dinner, laying bricks, doing the filing or relating to friends or your significant other. By staying present this allows you to experience these tasks or connections in an entirely new and richer way, leading to a more spiritual and grounded life.

Sally: What are the main techniques you use in your practice to support and balance people?

Dan: The main techniques I use for support in my practice is love, compassion, understanding, non- judgement & patience. This builds trust between myself and my client and really creates a safe and nurturing environment for them to start their own healing process.

I use variety of healing techniques to bring balance to the body’s systems which creates harmony within the body and realigns the body, mind and spirit, but of course it really depends on the client and their needs.

Generally speaking I would  start with a mini counselling session to see why they have come to see me and what issues are affecting their general wellbeing. I would then measure their energy flow in their system, how they utilise it and how they miss-direct it. I would then start to channel the holy light into the lower auric bodies and chakras, clearing blockages, tears, any negative energy build ups and then I’d continue with the rest of the client’s chakras. This is the spiritual healing technique I use in a nut shell, obviously it is a little more complexed then that.

I also tend to use Yoga Cikitsa (Yoga Therapy) to bring balance and healing to my clients. Yoga can bring all the bodies systems such as cardio pulmonary system, the endocrine system, musculoskeletal system, digestive and hormonal systems into balance.

I also like to use meditation, rebirthing and counselling in my practice, but as I said earlier it depends on the client and their needs. I will intuitively decide which modality to use, to bring about healing in the safest and most practical way. If a client can leave me all healed and with some added life skills like meditation or yoga ; that can’t be all bad, it’s actually pretty cool.

Sally: Where do you feel spiritual healing fits within the frame work of the natural therapies industry?

Dan: I would say spiritual healing sits within the framework of the energy therapy modalities of the natural therapies industry, alongside all the modalities that work with the subtle energy fields in and around the body, chakras, meridians and auric fields such as Energy Healing, Reiki and Healing Touch.

But in saying that you could also group Spiritual Healing with modalities such as Yoga, Therapeutic Touch, Acupuncture and Reflexology which all use systems to move energy through these channels in the body for balance and wellbeing of the body, mind & spirit.

Sticking with that same train of thought and stretching it a bit further we could also add Counselling which increases self awareness and self esteem to release negative emotions and mental “energy blocks”, or Rebirting which by using holotropic breathing techniques brings to the surface suppressed memories and “negative energy blocks”, for emotional release and integration.

I know it is a bit of a stretch, but everything is energy, we are energy (energy = mass) and healing is about bringing balance to the spirit, body and mind through energy. This is why I feel all modalities in the natural therapy industry have their place as they all promote balance and well being and the bodies natural ability to restore it’s own health.

Answering the question logically, I would say spiritual healing sits with the energy therapy modalities.

Sally: Do you have a favourite technique/healing practice?

Dan: Out of all the techniques I use in my practice I would have to say my favourite is Spiritual Healing. I feel so blessed to be able to channel the holy light, work with soul guides to help my clients heal themselves and make a real difference in their lives. Its truly a blessing and one I have much gratitude for.

Sally: How do you keep peace in your daily life?

Dan: I keep peace in my daily life through my meditation practice. Meditation is truly the key to a peaceful existence. It opens you up to spiritual ecstasy and bliss, & enables you to tap into your true potential of love and compassion. It lowers your blood pressure, stress and anxiety levels and helps you understand the nature of our minds.

Sally: Do you have a vision for your business in the future?

Dan: Yes, I am going to grow my practice from the clinical style healing centre to a retreat style spiritual centre/happiness centre.

Where people can come for meditation/yoga retreats and also incorporate healing and rebirthing sessions, shamanic ritual meditations, wisdom teachings and the awakening of consciousness’ practices. I would also like to incorporate my partner who is a medium/clairvoyant and a natural healer in her own right and my sister who is studying naturopathy. It would be nice to be surrounded by my family while doing such a special thing.

Essentially I would really like to create a place of happiness, where people can come together and laugh and invoke happiness, then go and spread the happiness into society.
