Vitex and Pregnancy

Is it ok to continue to take Vitex agnus castus while trying to conceive, in other words during ovulation? My understanding is you take it as directed then if pregnancy occurs stop taking it is this

Vitex and pregnancy

With regards to taking the herb Vitex we do not advise that any herbs be taken during pregnancy, with the exception of Slippery Elm and Ginger for morning sickness. However in the pre-conception phase the herb Vitex is indicated to boost fertility and balance hormones.  This herb works best if taken throughout the whole cycle (ovulation and the luteal phase).  It is a general rule of thumb to cease all herbs 2 weeks before trying to conceive but if you do happen to fall pregnant prior to this then simply stop taking any supplements once you realise that you have conceived. Although Vitex is not directly contraindicated most Naturopaths will recommend that you cease herbs during pregnancy as a precaution. This is because during pregnancy hormonal levels naturally change and taking herbs which modulate hormones can alter this delicate balance.
