WARTS are a common skin condition for many individuals, especially children and they are caused by the Papilloma viruses.  Many warts will appear and disappear by themselves within 6 months - 3 years without any treatment.

There are many types of warts, some of them are:

  • Common warts (Verucca vulgaris) occur on the hands, knees, scalp, fingers and face and generally have a rough surface and are small and round in shape.
  • Butchers warts - hyperproliferative cauliflower like lesions most commonly present on the hands.
  • Filiform warts are small, thin and long in shape and occur on the eyelids, face, lips or neck.
  • Genital warts occur on the genitals and around the anus.
  • Juvenile warts occur on the face and hands of children.
  • Plantar warts occur on the soles of the feet.
  • Seborrheic keratosis (senile warts) are yellow or brown oval spots with clearly marked perimeters and raised surfaces that develop in middle aged or older people.
