Is there any way to get the benefits of green tea

when you are allergic to caffeine and cannot drink it?

If you are allergic to caffeine then there would be no safe way to take Green Tea. Even the decaffeinated forms of Green Tea still contain very small amounts of caffeine.  It would be more advisable to find alternatives to Green Tea such as other herbs that are rich in anti-oxidants and can be taken as a Tisane (infused in water) if desired,

Herbal infusion alternatives for Green Tea

  • Rose Hip tea - very high Vitamin C content
  • Rooibos  - very high anti-oxidant tea, similar to green tea and black tea but is 100% caffeine free.
  • Raspberry -  contains oligomeric procyanidins, which are powerful anti-oxidants
  • Blueberry - contains epicatechins (similar to the catechins found in green tea) a potent anti-oxidant, healthy heart and circulation
  • Ginkgo -  anti-oxidant, circulatory stimulant

The Powermeal diet is a diet for cardiovascular health and centres on using foods to promote circulation and increase anti-oxidants.  Foods which this diet includes are fish, berries, dark chocolate, red wine, garlic, almonds and plenty of fruits and vegetables.

If you are requiring Green Tea for the anti-oxidant effects then the following alternatives (and their antioxidant constituent) may be beneficial for you:

  • Grape Seed extract -  contains procyanidins
  • Milk Thistle - contains silybin
  • Black Pepper -  contains piperines
  • Turmeric - contains curcuminoids
  • Polygonum (Japanese Knotweed) -  contains resveratrol
