Hyperpigmentation
My skin is 2 shades darker than it used to be a couple years ago. The onset was gradual but it is very noticable, why is this happening?
Hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin or excess skin pigmentation) can occur due to various medical conditions which may cause changes in the melanin. Hyperpigmentation is a type of skin darkening that occurs when certain skin cells release more pigment (dark colour). I suggest making an appointment with a Healthcare professional and/or Doctor so that they can asses your condition further and determine the underlying cause.
The following may cause hyperpigmentation:
- Addisons disease
- Melanoderma
- Scleroderma
- McCune Albright Syndrome
- Hemachromotosis
- Side effects of medications
- Adrenal cortex diseases
- Babers syndrome
- Lymphocytic vasculitis
A face to face consultation with a health care practitioner is required to gain a fully informed picture of your current condition.
