Echinacea for winter woes

 image

Echinacea has attracted so much debate over the past decade as a natural remedy for cold relief. Study after study claiming and defaming it's hotly contested qualities.

Some say it is only good as a preventative, others say to take it at the first sign of symptoms and others say to stay away. There may be a need for caution to the highly sensitive and prone to daisy allergies. But when all is said and done it will still be used by many people to help reduce the symptoms of colds and flu's.

Throughout history Echinacea has been used to treat a wide range of infections and according to The Journal of Complimentary Medicine, Vol 2, No 3. a combination of Echinacea Purpurea and Echinacea Augustifolia has been reported to boost the immune system and soothe and speed the healing of skin wounds and inflammation.

It is advisable to take Echinacea for no longer then 8 weeks running as it may start to suppress the immune system.
