Anaesthetic support

My son will soon be sedated using anaesthetics for surgery. Is there something I can do to help reduce the side effects?

Diet tips after anaesthesia

  • Follow a gentle cleansing diet and increase foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Lemon juice in warm water
  • Vegetable juices
  • Miso soup and vegetable and barley soup
  • Green barley powder
  • Brown rice
  • Nuts and seeds including nut pastes (macadamia butter, cashew butter or tahini)
  • Olive oil, flaxseed oil, oysters, red meat, fish and grains
  • Plenty of vitality lifting water
  • Eliminate waste producing foods such as dairy, wheat, alcohol, sugar, preserved, refined and processed foods
  • Diet and food are an important way to increase immunity, healing and recovery.  Be sure to eat plenty of foods rich in anti-oxidants

Lifestyle factors after anaesthesia

  • Plenty of rest
  • Support liver and bowel function
  • Improve nutritional status with antioxidants
  • Some Herbal medicines have drug interactions with anaesthetics used in surgery and it is very important to inform your doctor if you intend to use Herbal medicine before and after Anaesthesia

Natural remedies after anaesthesia

  • Antioxidants such as Vitamin C, Zinc, Selenium and B Vitamins
  • Vitamin C may help your immunity to build after anesthetics
  • Some Herbs to support the liver after anesthetics are Milk Thistle (regenerates liver cells, protects against toxins, and guards against free radicals) and Ginger tea (to help reduce any nausea, however caution is needed if taken after surgery as it has been shown to thin the blood)
